Müzewest Concerts Announces Seventh Annual Concert Season!

It is with great joy that we are able to announce our seventh annual recital season!

We have some fantastic events to share with you and yes, we WILL be celebrating Beethoven’s birthday in a big way!

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2019 – 19:00 – Matthieu Foresi, composer and pianist Fourteen year-old pianist and composer Matthieu Foresi is an exciting musician who recently won second place in the Canadian Chopin Society Competition.  His recital will feature the music of Chopin, Scarlatti, Scriabin, and his own composition! Join us for an exciting evening of music from this talented young artist!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2019 – 19:30 – Wayne Weng and Larry Weng, piano duet You’ve heard Igor Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring with a full orchestra and now you will get to experience it in a more intimate setting of the piano duet! Join us for an evening of pianistic excellence with two award-winning musicians. Larry Weng and Wayne Weng have been successful on the international stage at competitions that include the Queen Elisabeth in Belgium and New York Concert Artists. The first half of the concert features beloved four-hand duets by Franz Schubert.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2019 – 18:00 – Jazz! Triology with special guest Maya Rae

Come join the party with some of Canada’s top jazz musicians: Jodi Proznick on bass, Miles Black on piano, and Bill Coon on guitar. They will be joined by special guest – Maya Rae, a young jazz singer who has recently been enchanting audiences at many jazz festivals!

THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 2020 – 19:30 – Beethoven Festival Concert 1 – Jonathan Crow and Philip Chiu The powerhouse combination of violinist Jonathan Crow and pianist Philip Chiu create a style of ensemble playing that immediately captures listeners. Over three nights, they will play the complete sonatas for piano and violin by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Praised for his subtle interpretations and refined technical mastery, British pianist Alexander Ullman has impressed audiences and critics worldwide with his deep understanding of the scores he interprets, his elegant touch and crystalline phrasing. Alexander first came to international attention in 2011 after winning the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Budapest.  Join us for a wonderful evening as Alexander Ullman will perform music by Haydn and Beethoven’s Third Symphony – transcribed for solo piano!
